The Sex Expo finally returned to NYC after a 3 year absence because of covid as well as its original location at the Brooklyn Expo Center shutting its doors. The fans were awaiting its return though as even the rainy weather from the remnants of Hurricane Ian couldn’t stop a block long crowd from lining up to enter the show. Welcome to the 2022 Sex Expo in its new location at the Metropolitan Pavilion.
As someone who goes to a lot of adult related conventions I can say that New York has been starving for an event like this for awhile. When The Sex Expo first came around I was instantly interested and told everyone i knew they should come out to this event and many did. This year I saw so many people return to the event and some came to check it out for the first time. It’s such a nice feeling to have an event like this in New York where rules are a bit more progressive such as letting woman be topless in public which was on display by some of the ladies in the Chaturbate area. As a sponsor of the event Romantic Depot had a huge booth right in the middle of the show floor and there was always a crowd all weekend as the host drew people in with their energetic presence.
The new venue seemed a bit smaller to me than the old one in Brooklyn and it made it hard to walk around at times. There were a lot good vendors around such as The White Unicorn who I always see at other shows with their fantastic designs and JimmyJane which carries a wide variety of sex toys. The panel area was off to the side and had a fairly large space for people to sit down and watch all the various workshops that were happening throughout the weekend. The expo is a great place not just to buy toys or costumes but also be educated in areas which might be taboo outside those entrance doors as inside everyone is there for the same reasons and it’s a very inclusive experience where you can be yourself. I hope The Sex Expo continues to get bigger and better the way it was headed before covid hit and I’m glad I have been a part of attending each one since it’s inception.
