I’ve been to many Exxxotica events in New Jersey but this is my first AVN Expo. I wouldn’t say that these events are much different in how they’re laid out, it’s just a size and scale thing. Where as Exxxotica is inside one large convention center area with plenty of space, AVN is held throughout multiple connected rooms inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The booths are bigger, the stars are more, and areas are more packed with fans than any event I’ve been to. It can be overwhelming at first.
The expo started on Wednesday afternoon and there were 3 separate entrances for general admission, VIP and talent/exhibitor’s/press. At some point while waiting on the VIP line everyone was informed that they would not be allowed to bring bags inside and could only use a MyFreeCams bag that were being handed out and no professional cameras would be allowed as well. This is something that caught many fans off guard and apparently was coming from the Hard Rock itself and not AVN. It delayed my official entry as I had to leave my camera in my friends room temporarily until I got my press pass and didn’t end up on the show floor until almost 4 hours into the show. What a way to start my first AVN.
When I did finally make my way inside I saw some performers set up in the hallway signing and taking pictures and a long MyFreeCams table set up with about 20 girls at it on cam and a ton of free merchandise like stickers, shot glasses, shades and more. MFC also had another large area set up inside with even more cam girls and a wider space for them to walk around in. There were also areas for ManyVids, Brazzers and Vixen/Blacked in the same area. The Vixen area in particular was always packed with stars like Vicki Chase, Tori Black and Riley Reid signing and taking pics and all around just having fun. Brazzers meanwhile had Nicolette Shea and Phoenix Marie as some of the stars you could take pictures with and their area was also very popular. Some girls charged for pictures like at Exxxotica but the more major studios like Vixen and Brazzers didn’t charge anyone and I got myself a free Brazzers t-shirt and almost scored a Blacked hat.
In another room I found the Clips4Sale area as well as InkedAngels and in the back area an AVN section where stars like Romi Rain were signing who I happened to catch as she was arriving. Over at Porn Star Stroker also in the same room they had stars such as Anna Bell Peaks, Alexis Texas and Karma RX at various times during the expo. If you wanted to see your favorite porn star they were probably here and a lot of them weren’t even advertised on the AVN site so chances are you were surprised by someone you didn’t know would be attending. The only thing that made it difficult to maybe find someone is that they would usually be signing for 4 hours and then switch to another booth for the rest of the day. Other than that you couldn’t walk anywhere, even the casino floor without running into someone.
One place that was easy to miss but full of stars was the auditorium. If you missed it then chances are you missed out on OC modeling with stars like Joslyn James & Alura Jenson or Evil Angel which featured the likes of Angela White, Luna Star and Katrina Jade. Further walking through the auditorium area I found stars like Sara Jay and newcomer Melody Parker and the fun and bubbly Kira Noir and Kenzie Reeves who were both near the Evil Angel booth. I also saw BBW star Lexxxi Luxe who I’m a fan of but didn’t know she would appearing at this show. Another welcome surprise. All in all, the auditorium area held a lot of hidden gems and eventually brought out Christy Mack on Friday and Saturday to the Hustler Club booth. You could also head upstairs and find clothing like corsets and other sexy outfits.
My first AVN was a success once I got the hang of navigating the show floor and different rooms. At this point after 9 years of Exxxotica, going to AVN was a reunion and I got to see so many of the stars I’ve met over the years. Not just the stars though, the friends I’ve made and countless new people I’ve had my first conversation with. It was also my first time in Vegas so now it seems like every time I end up in Vegas it will go hand in hand with AVN and that’s fine with me, I will definitely be back again next year.
