Born in Belgium with Iranian roots, Layla started performing at a very young age and was inspired by Nina Simone, Sade, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott and India Arie. Layla is Esquire's 2018 Music Award Winner as she continues to rise to the top with the release of her new video, "Goddess." The single is from her album SAVED which explores her fight to go up against social conventions as a Middle Eastern woman. The songs in her latest album express the vulnerability of being a woman and celebrate the power found within through introspection and breaking free from the expectations of her community.
