“The Field,” is the first single release from Rolled Gold’s upcoming, yet still untitled EP.
It’s essentially a bluesy “trap” song about Black American history, which is just as catchy and club-worthy as it is a powerful, deep-rooted, political message. Jeide Eighttrack & Kaang Groovin, together forming the duo No Headliner, each deliver intensely poetic verses as well as sharing a “call & response” style hook, while Rolled Gold’s 808-heavy drums and bass lock in with his live congas and his friend Lorena’s painfully soulful vocal loop.
