Interview With King Com

Hailing from Queensbridge Projects is Boom Bap Digital emcee King Com.  King Com who is related to the legendary producer Marley Marl has been in the game for a minute from being part of the infamous Future Flavas radio show and being around famous celebrities from Aaliyah, Large Professor, ODB, etc.  In this interview, King Com shares his thoughts on growing up in QB, his uncle Marley Marl, working with producer/CEO of Boom Bap Digital Jae Supreme, his new album "reALEXty" and more.

Sincere: Who were your musical influences growing up and what made you decide to pursue music on a full time basis?

King Com: I was born into Hip Hop around the Juice Crew and I was influenced by Big Daddy Kane and the love he was getting from his fans because that it made me want to take it to same level in hip hop.

Sincere: Being Marley Marl’s nephew and growing up in QueensBridge. What advice Marley gave to you in regards to making music your career?

King Com: Marley told me that to be in the entertainment business, you must entertain the people.

Sincere: Who was the first artist you worked with from Queensbridge?

King Com: One of the first people I've worked with was John Doe, he was from a group called World Renown.  We did some work together in the studio.

Sincere: Casanova Rud (of Super Lover Cee & Casanova Rud) fame played a role in your career coming up. How did you meet up with Casanova Rud?

King Com: I met Rud through another kid by the name of Troy Slugs, and I was rhyming in front of Rud and its been on ever since.

Sincere: Being a co-host on Future Flavas with Marley Marl and Pete Rock must be an honor for you. Was this your first radio gig on a commercial radio station?

King Com: It was definitely a great honor working with them, because being around Pete Rock and Marley Marl, I got a chance to meet people like ODB, (RIP) Big PUN ( RIP) Aaliya (RIP) Redman, the Roots, etc.   And yes it was my first radio show.

Sincere:  Did you ever had the opportunity to work with Prince A.D aka Killa Sha (R.I.P)?

King Com: No I never had the opportunity to work with Prince AD.  However, we were from the block, the 41st of Vernon where a lot of talent is from.

Sincere: Your new EP “reALEXty” is dropping later in the year under Jae Supreme’s label Boom Bap Digital. Who do you have on your new EP?
King Com: Foul Monday, F.Don, Cutta, Speed and some other surprises.

Sincere: Can you explain the concept behind your new single C.R.E.A.M 2014 “Cash Ruined Everything Around Music”?

King Com: I want to keep it 100, that was Jae Supreme idea and I said let's do it.

Sincere: How long have you been working with Jae Supreme?

King Com: I started working with him between 2001 and 2002.

Sincere: What are your thoughts on Jae Supreme getting his due on NAS "ILLMATIC XX" album which dropped last month and the release of Jae's new album "LIFEWORK" which you are also featured on?

King Com: Yeah, the timing is crazy and beautiful how Nas & Jae's projects come out around the same time because Jae been wanted to put out his album in April 2014.

Sincere:  You have been around a lot of talented artists throughout your career.  Do you have any crazy road stories you can share with us?

King Com: I remember when I was on the radio show with ODB and Cappadonna when he was being interviewed.  OBD kept on interrupting getting on the main mic, which was Marley Marl's mic singing Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and it wasn't even near Christmas time LOL!!!

Sincere: There have been some rappers who have expressed their views in regards to rappers wearing skinny jeans and skirts. Do you find this trend disturbing or it’s just part of the new fashion trend that is popular?

King Com: Yes I find it very disturbing about the dudes with tight jeans and skirts because I think men should be men and women should be women.  Because men with men and women with women as far as I'm concerned leads to the end of the world.  It's like Sodom & Gomorrah out here.

Sincere: Interesting, you are referencing revelations and some may take offense and call you a homophobe for your beliefs?

King Com: Well I'm not a homophobe.  I just know how it should be and we can do whatever we like to do.  But I like me some nice tits, nice ass & some good oochie wally. LOL

Sincere: What are you bumping in your IPOD?

King Com: I like bumping that King Com most definitely LOL !!! and QB hip hop and a lot of 1990s hip hop.

Sincere:  If you had to pick one artist you would like to work with. Who would it be?

King Com: I really would like to work with Jadakiss because I like how our voices stand out from the others, even though our style is different, the bars we spit is ill because of that I think it be hot for us to work together.

Sincere: Before we wrap things up.  I would like for you to participate in a word association game.  Describe in one or two words the artists you have worked with.  Starting with Jae Supreme?

King Com: Wisdom

Sincere:  Marley Marl?

King Com: Legendary

Sincere: Casanova Rud?

King Com:  Hip-Hop

Sincere: Do you have any final thoughts and shout outs?

King Com: Shout out to John Doe for being the first one to work with me, Casanova Rud success club, Jae Supreme's Boom Bap, Kas, Ty Boogie, My Williams family, Marley Marl, the whole QB, and everybody that got love for King Com.
