We have become the punchline in hip hop's joke.  These new hip-hop artists and hip-hop fans just don't get it and since they don't understand why New York artists are "mad" let me explain it as a New York hip-hop artist/producer/DJ would.

Hip-Hop has always been known as a melting pot just like the make up of New York City.  It's a place where everybody can be seen and heard, and get a chance to reach for the stars.  Now from a broader point of view, hip hop music used to be like the United Nations (which just by coincidence is based in New York City), diversity in the music was expected and accepted, because it gave every hip hop head a choice.  You could listen to party rap, gangsta rap, political rap, hippie rap, jazz rap, country rap, etc. or listen to all of the above if you chose to.  Even different regions in America gave you a distinct sound that could be enjoyed by all.  Hip Hop even got to the point where different countries developed and presented their styles of hip hop.  THIS WAS ALL GOOD.

I think the problem started when corporate entities turned hip hop into big business.  It then became a commodity and was no longer an art form and you know the only thing corporations worry about is "the bottom line" = what's the profit margin.  If it don't make dollars, then it don't make sense/cents.

Hip Hop,  a culture and business that was once groomed, nurtured and controlled by the pioneers and true lovers of the music, has now been bought out by billion dollar corporations that wouldn't give two fucks on what the meaning of M.C. is or what a "real" D.J. is actually supposed to do.

In short Hip Hop has become a ONE WORLD ORDER and like the "New World Order" that is taking shape right before our eyes and a lot of people don't believe that's true; Hip-Hop, one of the only real true forms of expression, is following suit.

I can go on for days on this subject, but I'm gonna break it down to this:

All forms of good music should be embraced not ignored.  If we have a New York sound, so be it, we are New Yorkers.  Me, personally, I can't tell you what "life is like" in Atlanta, I don't fuckin' live there.

TO ALL DJs AROUND THE COUNTRY - IF YOU ARE A REAL DJ AND NOT JUST A CORPORATE PUPPET - PLAY THE MUSIC!! PERIOD.

NEW YORK DJs = PLAY THAT NEW YOUR SHIT & MORE.
MIDWEST DJs = PLAY THAT MIDWEST SHIT & MORE
CALI DJs = PLAY THAT CALI SHIT & MORE
SOUTHERN DJs = PLAY THAT SOUTHERN SHIT & MORE

"Trap music" ain't Hip Hop.  It's a part of Hip Hop....Don't forget it.
